A traffic stop is the most common reason a citizen will come in contact with law enforcement. This is a stressful situation for everybody, especially for young people.

The Be SMART + Be SAFE program is committed to helping prevent traffic stops and other interactions between young people and law enforcement from escalating into an arrest or crisis.

Be SMART + Be SAFE teaches young people and other family members about their rights, responsibilities, and proper interactions with law enforcement officers so all encounters result in positive outcomes and everyone gets home safely.
